Hocking Valley Community Hospital (HVCH) is a county-owned critical access hospital (CAH) nestled in the heart of the beautiful Hocking Hills region in Logan, Ohio. In existence since 1906, HVCH has been a public, non-profit community hospital since 1949.

We are currently seeking a Surgical Technician to join our friendly, patient-centered clinical team to provide excellence in patient safety and quality. This is a full time, day shift position.


About your next career:

Surgical Technicians assist in a variety of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures at the hospital across multiple service lines including general and orthopedic surgery, urology, endoscopy, gynecology, ophthalmology, and more. They ensure patient quality and safety standards are maintained within the department.


You'll be expected to:

  • Help set up the operating room and organize sterile table with surgical instruments and equipment, sterile linens, and sterile solutions.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Also transports, positions patients on table, and covers them with sterile surgical "drapes."
  • Check, adjust, and operate equipment such as sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintains supply of fluids such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operation.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments, and providing sterile items in an efficient manner.
  • Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis, hold retractors, cut sutures, and apply dressings as directed.
  • Clean and restock the operating room.


What you need for the job:

  • Completion of a post-high school surgical technician program accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) strongly preferred but not required
  • High school diploma required. Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least one (1) year experience in a clinical environment
